Q: What are the best children's books?

I am starting to build our library for my 2 year old and I would like some advice on the best books to purchase. Anyone out there have a book that is a must have for our library?

A: If You Give A Mouse A Cookie Series

The whole series is a delight! I am a teacher and the students absolutely love the trouble that the little critters in Laura Numeroff's stories get into. It is a bonus that there are many in the series: If you Give A Mouse A Cookie, If you Give a Moose A Muffin, If you Give a Pig a Party, If you Take a Mouse to the Movies, If you give a Pig a Pancake, and If you Give A Cat a Cupcake. If you can't afford the whole series, my students like If You Give a Pig a Party and If you give a Cat a Cupcake the best.
