Q: Can I go to the dentist while pregnant?

I heard that going to the dentist stirs up bacteria that is bad for the baby. Is that true? Would it be alright to just go for a simple cleaning?

A: Yes.

You actually should go more often when you are pregnant for regular cleanings. Hormones can cause your gums to be extra prone to gingivitis and cleanings help keep the bacteria from getting into your bloodstream. You just aren't supposed to have the x-rays.
