Q: Any advice for talking to your kids about sex?

I know "the talk" is a cliche. But, it's also important. Any tips? Also, what age do you think is the right one to cover the subject?

A: Just be open

The most important thing about the big talk with your child is to be open to their questions.

A tip I can is for you to start off by asking your child what he/she knows about sex, then filling in the details. It may surprise you what your child thinks and knows about sex. Often times, children are curious about sex and they want someone to answer their questions. Unfortunately, who do you think they are going to for answers? Their friends, who are wrong about so many things! Your child is going to find out about sex and I am glad that you are being proactive in educating your child.

I would start the talk around 10 or 11 years old. I say this because I know is CA, we start sexual education in 5th grade, which is in that age range. However, what the schools can teach is limited, so it is important that you give your kids the facts.
