If the father (or future father) has an unhealthy diet, it may lead him to have unhealthy sperm which can affect the chances of getting pregnant. It's not like you have to be on a strict diet, but it wouldn't hurt your chances if you take care of your health, just as your wife is taking care of hers. Studies have shown that men who smoke have greater infertility issues, so if you are smoking or drinking at excess, it would be wise to cut that out during this time.
