A: I think it's just important to keep them active (without over doing it)
I'd say get them involved in at least one sport and one form of the arts. I think the most important thing is to reduce the amount of time their watching television or movies. I'm not saying restrict them to an hour a tv a night (although that 's what some parents do, and it works for them) just keep them active enough that their not always doing it.
Growing up my parents put me in hockey and baseball (those are kind of the norm where I'm from) and it worked out well because I loved both sports. I think it's important not to pressure them into the sports, if they don't enjoy that sport, encourage them to hopefully stick out the rest of the season, then explore a sport they might be interested in. Don't push them to be the best, like you said their just kids - encourage them to have fun, and make friends with teammates, have a couple of their teammates over to play every once in a while. Same goes for the arts, let them try out a year or 2 of an instrument (piano is popular), art lessons, or some form of dance. It would great if you could use this hobbie or sport to spend some time with, help them practice, show some interest in it, even if it just means going to watch their games. This is just my feelings on the matter, what do you think?
