Q: Should We Be Adopting From Haiti Now?

China is the country from which most U.S. citizens have elected to adopt since the year 2000 because of a massive baby boom. Children available for adoption were mostly girls, infants to 6 years of age. To shrug off a perception that it is a poor country that cannot look after its own children, China has made it more difficult to adopt in recent years.

With the recent tragedy in Haiti, some Americans want to respond to the need of the children in Haiti by opening their homes to the orphans created by this disaster, it seems like a good fit that parents looking to adopt can help Haiti's children.

Is there a growing need of adoption from Haiti? Is it more easy or difficult than adopting from other countries?
